Laser surgery
Laser procedures used to treat glaucoma, retinal conditions, and clouded lens capsule after cataract surgery.
Precision treatment
for lasting results
Laser treatments are performed at The Eye Center to manage a wide range of medical eye conditions using advanced, state-of-the-art technology. These procedures allow our physicians to treat specific areas of the eye with precision while preserving surrounding tissue.
Laser surgery may be recommended for conditions such as posterior capsule opacities (after-cataract scar tissue), diabetic macular edema, proliferative diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears, angle-closure glaucoma, and open-angle glaucoma. Your physician will determine whether laser treatment is appropriate based on your diagnosis and overall eye health.
Many laser treatments can be performed the same day as your consultation, depending on your condition and clinical findings.
Where Laser Procedures Are Performed
Laser procedures are performed at The Eye Center using advanced equipment within our on-site ambulatory surgical suite. Our facility is designed specifically for ophthalmic care and is equipped with modern lasers, instruments, and monitoring systems to support safe and effective treatment.
Patients receive care in a specialty-focused environment supported by a highly trained team that works exclusively with eye procedures. This allows us to provide a consistent, efficient experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety and comfort.
What to Expect During Laser Treatment
Before your laser procedure, your vital signs may be checked, and your eye will be prepared using anesthetic eye drops. In some cases, dilating drops may also be used, depending on the type of laser treatment being performed.
You will be seated comfortably in a specialized chair that positions your eye close to the laser device. During the procedure, you may see bright lights or hear brief clicking sounds as the laser is applied. Laser treatments are generally well tolerated, involve minimal discomfort, and typically last from a few seconds to several minutes.
Posterior capsule opacification
Clouding of the lens capsule that can occur after cataract surgery and cause blurry vision and glare.

Diabetic eye disease
Laser treatment can help manage bleeding or swelling caused by diabetic retinopathy or macular edema.
Retinal tears
Laser treatment can seal retinal tears to help prevent retinal detachment.
Glaucoma
Certain laser procedures can help lower eye pressure and protect the optic nerve.
Recovery and next steps
Your physician will provide specific activity restrictions based on your particular condition. Some patients can resume regular activities the following day, while others may need to take it easy for a few days. We will give you clear written instructions before you leave our office.
Follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor your healing and ensure the treatment achieved the desired result. These visits allow us to check your eye pressure, assess vision changes, and confirm vision has fully recovered. Most patients notice improvement in their symptoms within days to weeks.
If you experience unexpected pain, sudden vision changes, or increased redness after your procedure, contact us immediately. We maintain same-day access for urgent concerns to ensure your safety and peace of mind.
Our team remains available to answer any questions about your recovery. Whether you need clarification on your restrictions, have concerns about your healing, or simply want reassurance, we are here to support you through the process.
