Frequently asked questions answered

We know you have questions. Find clear answers about appointments, procedures, and care at The Eye Center.

How do I schedule an appointment?

Call our office directly during business hours to schedule. We are open Monday - Thursday 7 AM to 5 PM and Friday 7 AM to 4 PM. We work to fit you in quickly, most new patients are seen within a week.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring your insurance card, photo ID, and a list of current medications. If you have previous eye records or imaging from another provider, those are helpful too. Arrive about ten minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.

How do I prepare for surgery?

Your surgeon will give you detailed pre-operative instructions during your consultation. Generally, you'll need to stop certain medications, arrange transportation home, and plan time off work. We'll answer all your questions before the procedure.

What if I have an emergency?

Call 509-966-2253 for instructions. If you are unable to reach the on-call physician, go to the hospital emergency room.

How long will my appointment be?

Most appointments require 30–60 minutes. This includes technician testing followed by evaluation and discussion with the doctor. You will also likely have some waiting time during your appointment. The average visit to The Eye Center is about an hour.

Will I be dilated?

The need to dilate your eyes depends on your age and symptoms. We only dilate the eyes if it is necessary.

Do you offer LASIK surgery?

No one in our office is currently performing LASIK.

Do you treat children?

Not routinely. We are able to evaluate and treat children on an emergency basis.

Will my surgery be on the same day as my preop/consult?

No. You will have a pre-op evaluation prior to scheduling surgery. This is done for several reasons. First, insurance authorization takes some time. You may receive a prescription for eye drops that will be started a few days before the surgery. Additionally, some surgeries may require the temporary discontinuation of certain medications.

Where will the surgery take place?

The Eye Center can accommodate most surgeries in our on-site surgical suite.

What is recovery like after surgery?

Recovery varies by procedure, but most patients return to light activities within days. You'll receive clear post-operative care instructions and attend follow-up appointments to monitor healing. We're here to support you every step of the way.
