Richard E. Ehlers, M.D. | Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon

Cataracts, corneal transplants, eyelid surgery, diabetic and glaucoma laser surgery, injections for macular degeneration

Dr. Ehlers has been practicing Ophthalmology since 1982. He did his training at the prestigious Dean McGee Eye Institute and is Board Certified in Ophthalmology. He has trained extensively in eye diseases and specializes in surgical and laser treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, and children's eye diseases. He has performed more than 14,000 cataract surgeries and is an expert in corneal transplants, eyelid surgery, and laser surgery for glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. He has provided care for over 25,000 patients in Yakima since moving here in 1986. He and his wife Debbie have 3 children and many grandchildren.

Dr. Ehlers has built a state of the art office and surgery center in Yakima, showing his commitment to provide the highest quality of eye care possible to this region. He has the most advanced equipment, instruments, and lasers to provide the best treatment available anywhere for his patients. He is dedicated to helping everyone in need of eye care in Central Washington.

W. Michael Stapleton, M.D. | Board Certified Ophthalmic Surgeon

Cataracts, eyelid surgery, diabetic and glaucoma laser surgery, injections for macular degeneration

Dr. Stapleton is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He graduated from medical school at the University of Washington in 2005. He then completed an ophthalmic research fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, and an internal medicine internship at Metrohealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Following this, he completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE, where he served as chief resident and was presented with the Howard Dinsdale Award for the best resident research presentation. 

Dr. Stapleton received extensive training in the latest techniques in cataract, glaucoma, cornea, pediatric, and eyelid surgery. His training also included the diagnosis and medical treatment of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other retinal problems, as well as laser treatment of diabetes and glaucoma. Now he is excited to provide excellent ocular health care to the Central Washington region. He and his wife, Tausha, have three children and they are enjoying their new home town in Yakima. 

Dr. Stapleton performs surgeries weekly. He also has clinic time in Yakima and Sunnyside. He is happy to accept patients at both locations.

Ben Jaramillo, OD. | Board Certified Optometrist

Comprehensive optometry and contact lenses

Dr. Jaramillo has been practicing Optometry since 2003. He completed his Doctor of Optometry program at the renowned New England College in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Jaramillo practices a full scope of optometry including primary ocular disease and contact lenses. This includes cataract evaluation, glaucoma diagnosis and management, cornea disease, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease. His patient base ranges from young children to the elderly. He has worked at The Eye Center since 2005 and is dedicated to providing the highest quality eye care by utilizing the newest technology and diagnostic instruments. Dr. Jaramillo practices in Yakima and Sunnyside.

 

Dr. Jaramillo and his wife Letty moved to Yakima in 2003 and have one child. When he is not providing quality eye care, he and his family enjoy hiking, camping, and travelling. He is also an active participant in the community.
